Anna is a Registered Art Therapist (AThR)
Anna first found art therapy back when she was a teenager, using drawing, painting and collage to work through times of anxiety and depression. From this love of art-making and the way it could both soothe and guide her, came Anna’s belief in the power of creativity to heal. Anna majored in fine art and psychology in her undergraduate degree before completing a Masters of Art Therapy at La Trobe University (MA ATh). She has since worked extensively in the Mental Health field in hospital and community settings with both adolescents and adults. She has worked with people experiencing a variety of mental health issues and challenging life circumstances. She has also run self-development sessions for individuals and professional development workshops for organisations.
Art therapy is a process where clients use their imagination and creativity to explore personal challenges through art-making such as drawing, painting and sculpture. Intuitive answers often emerge and exciting new forms of self-expression can be discovered. The making in art therapy connects mind and body and brings you into the here and now, which promotes relaxation and a positive mood shift. Through reflection on the creative process and the artwork, clients can feel empowered by new insights into the self and reconnected to strengths that may have been overshadowed.
Anna provides art therapy in a friendly and encouraging space where hopes and struggles are explored through art-making and talking. She is passionate that people tap into their creative force no matter what they believe about their ability to be creative. Anna will never analyse your artwork for meaning, rather she will facilitate you to find your own meaning and connect you to your own wisdom.
